| Pronucleotein Biotechnologies, LLC, The University of Texas Pan American (UTPA), and Quality Bioresources, Inc.
(Seguin, TX) will team to complete and launch Pronucleotein’s fluorescence assay hand-held system (FLASH). The
FLASH reader will employ more sensitive and specific fluorescent DNA aptamers (“Oligofluors”) instead of antibodies for
portable real-time early detection and warning of pathogens in foods and water. The system will be employed from
“Farm to Fork” by farmers, packers and processors, grocery wholesalers, and retailers to prevent costly food recalls.
The system’s incredible sensitivity of < 10 bacteria per milliliter will eliminate the 24-48 hour enrichment culture phase
currently required that may allow the sale and distribution of contaminated foods. |
