Thank you for your interest in SATAI. It would be useful to spend a moment explaining SATAI and some of the services SATAI offers to entrepreneurs here in the San Antonio community.
SATAI (San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative) was created in 2000 with the stated purpose of working with entrepreneurs in the San Antonio metropolitan area to provide assistance in preparing their ventures for investment funding. SATAI is a non-profit 501(c) organization funded partially by the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and The University of Texas at San Antonio. SATAI’s charter is to provide assistance to that technology based companies, which have the potential for high short-term growth and whose principal place of business, is, or will be, located in the Bexar County area. Additionally, SATAI acts as the South Texas Regional Center for Innovation and Commercialization (RCIC) for the Texas Emerging Technology Fund for 31 South Texas counties.
Since its inception in 2000, SATAI assisted a number of entrepreneurs in securing investment funding of various types and at various levels. Companies helped have been comprised of various technology sectors and include the bio-sciences, information technology, chemical engineering, and others. Total dollars raised by SATAI entrepreneurs during this same period has been over $80 million. Acceptance into the SATAI Program
Acceptance into the SATAI program is straightforward. The qualifications to become a SATAI Client are:
1. Be an individual or new company that has an innovative technology-based product that is marketable, which
2. Has the potential for high growth in the short term; and
3. Has its principal place of business in the San Antonio metro area; or be willing to re-locate the principal place of business to the San Antonio metro area.
In the event a venture does not meet these requirements, there are a number of other resources within San Antonio and across Texas than can provide support and assistance to entrepreneurs. In the event SATAI is not able to assist a particular venture, SATAI will assist in connecting the Client with the other appropriate resources.
